Utilize the Powers of Your Inner Mind
by secretagentWhen was the last time you wished you own the genie, as told in the Aladdin tale in the Western version of The Book of One Thousand and One Nights, who lived in an oil lamp and could grant you three wishes?
Creative visualization harnesses the power of your inner mind by converting your abstract thoughts into concrete reality. It is founded on the premise that whatever exists in the physical level must first take place in a higher plane, which is the mental level.
For instance, take a look at the visual masterpieces of some of the greatest artists, such as Michaelangelo, Vincent Van Gogh and Pablo Picasso. Before they started to paint, they would have formed, in their mind, a well-defined image of what they intended to paint. It was not simply splashing random colours on their canvass and praying for the best. Similarly, to achieve your masterpiece, you need to put in serious effort and intense concentration. This document provides some guidelines for a creative visualization session.
To begin, identify your comfort zone – that is, a place where you are at ease. For eg, for meditation purpose, you may prefer the silence of a church, a secluded oratory, a tranquil temple, in your disarranged cubicle or even in the comforts of your own bedroom. As long as you feel at ease, this will be your comfort zone.
Noise should be minimized so that you can shut out from your actual environment.
Next, decide on your goal. Focus on your most pressing need for the moment. If it is good health, then focus on attaining a healthy body. If you decide to mend a broken relationship, visualize yourself shaking hands with your partner. Just create a distinct mental image of what you really want and let it stay on your mind.
Last but not least, from the image that you have visualized in your mind, give positive feelings. Fill yourself with excitement and peace, and be optimistic. Remove all the negative thoughts, heartaches and heartbreaks.
Remain consistent in performing this exercise. This can be achieved by setting aside a few minutes a day, whether when you wake up in the morning, or before going to bed.
In this way, you form your level of expectations and this puts you in the right mood as you go through the motions of your life everyday.
Your strong belief that the best will come will make your dreams come true, sooner than expected.
